Obituary

Funeral services for Earl L. Hunt, 87, East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Earl died Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Heartland Health Care, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church or to Alzheimer's Research. Earl was born August 4, 1923 in Moline, the son of Louis and Katherine (Schulte) Hunt. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Elaine Gremonprez on May 21, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. He retired in 1983 as a tool and dye maker from John Deere Plow Planter, Moline. Earl enjoyed golfing, rolle bolle and bowling. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed traveling and time spent with family. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elaine, children and spouses; Kaye and Larry Miller, Port Byron and Tom and Janet Hunt, Rock Island, grandchildren; Jennifer Hunt, Jeff Hunt, Ryan Hunt, Bria (Wayne) Berkowitz, Brett (Kate) Ommen, Karyn (Dan) Mairet, Laura (Dave) Koel, and Jason (Jessica) Miller, great grandchildren; Augie, Miles, Tyler, Austin, Cora, Ruby, Elyssa and Grant, and sisters; Joyce Haskins, East Moline, and Delores Snauwaert, Highlands Ranch, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth and sister Elaine Bert.
