Edna M. Smith, 95, East Moline, passed away at 9:23 am on Saturday May 15, 2021 at her home. Funeral services are 11am Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline.

Edna was born on April 17, 1926 in Wayne County, in southern Illinois, the daughter of Pearl and Faye (Loye) Brummet. She married George W. Smith on July 20, 1946 at the Wedding Chapel in San Diego, CA, while George was serving in the US Navy. When George died on October 8, 2011 they had been married for 65 years. The love they shared was true. The couple enjoyed dancing, camping and listening to their son George play the saxophone. Edna and George had three sons who eventually married 3 amazing women, who were always there to help and comfort when needed. Mrs. Smith was truly grateful for the love shown to her from her sons, their wives, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edna worked for the former Eagle Grocery Store in Rock Island, retiring in 1959. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline and the Orion American Legion Auxilliary. Edna enjoyed embroidery and doing puzzles.

Survivors include her sons, George (Gloria) Smith, Jerald (Jane) Smith, and Allen (Mary Jane) Smith, grandchildren; Doug (Lisa) Smith, Lance Smith, Meghan (Bobby) Sharp, Kelly (Karie) Smith-Shields, Angie (Ryan) McCallom, Chris (Lacey) Ellis, Aaron (Jane) Ellis and Marc (Leanna) Ellis, great grandchildren; Hunter Smith, Hannah Smith, Gavin Smith, Bailey Smith, Fiona McCallom, Gwen McCallom, Jamar Sharp, Jayla Sharp, Ava Sharp, Tavain Sharp, Nicole Ellis, Josua Ellis, Grayson Ellis, Alaina Ellis, Brooks Ellis, Addilynn Ellis and Cale Ellis, and brothers, Roger (Pat) Brummet and Colin (Marlene) Brummet, sister-in-law Helen Brummet.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Adam Smith, her parents, sisters, Violet Brummet and Ernestine Murphy and brother LaVerne Brummet.
