Funeral services for Edward J. "Ed" Debowski, 96, of East Moline, IL, will be 10am Monday November 16, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4pm Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1PM. Mr. Debowski died Monday November 9, 2020 at his home.

Ed was born October 31, 1924, in Donora, PA, the son of Casimir and Mary (Chinay) Debowski. He married Ann Koday May 7, 1949 in Donora and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage.

Ed served in the navy 1943-1946 during WWII on the USS Shannon destroyer mine layer, he was a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He worked 11 years in the US Steel Mill in Donora PA, and then in 1963, Ed and Ann moved to East Moline IL where they raised eight children. He retired from Alcoa in 1990, after 27 years of service as an electrician. He was a member and on the board with the Catholic Credit Union. He was an avid member of St. Mary's and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.

Ed was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He had a passion for gardening and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; children, Joseph Debowski, Moline, IL, Michael (Patty) Debowski, Fountain Valley, CA, Kathleen Dopler, Pontiac, IL, Marian Ferry, Colona, IL, Edward (Lisa) Debowski, Laguna Niguel, CA, Ann Marie (Gary) Schutt, Colona, James Debowski, Tustin, CA, and Carolyn (John) Potter, Mission Viejo, CA; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Helen Pipik, Donora, and Anthony Debowski, Donora.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joseph Debowski, Violet Zielinski, and Walter Debowski.
