Edward D. Keegan, 92, of East Moline, (formerly of Campbells Island)IL, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday March 4, 2009, at Van Hoe Funeral Home LTD, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be today, Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL with military honors conducted by the East Moline American Legion Honorguard Post 227. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation. Ed was born December 7, 1916 in Epswitch, South Dakota, the son of Ed and Mary (Shurvinski) Keegan. He served in the Army during World War II surviving Pearl Harbor. Ed married Doris E. Douger. She died May 5, 1978. He had worked at the former J I Case Plant, East Moline, IL and also for the City of East Moline as a heavy equipment operator. Moline. He was a member of the Silvis FOE 1869 for 47 years and a member of the VFW. Ed loved motorcycles, fishing and boating. He was a daredevil at heart. Survivors include: his grandchildren Donny Keegan, Millington, TN, Danny and Tammy Keegan of Geneseo, IL, Dennis and Amy Keegan of Silvis, IL; Kerry Keegan of Moline, IL; 9 Great grandchildren; two sisters Caroline VanderHeyden of Carbon Cliff, IL and Mary "Mickey" DeVos of East Moline and one brother John Keegan of East Moline. His wife, son Donald, parents, 3 sisters and a brother precede him in death. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
