Funeral services for Edward D. Phillips, 82, Colona, are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverview Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member. Ed passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL. He was born October 17, 1925 in Guin, Alabama, the son of George and Dora (Franks) Phillips. He married Dorothy Kilgore in 1958. Ed retired from Alcoa in 1983. Mr. Phillips enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching wrestling on television. Survivors include his wife Dorothy, children and spouses: Sandra and Mike Rivera, Moline and Stephen and Sandy Phillips, Hamilton, AL, grandchildren: Adriane Morris, Marcus Phillips and Connie Phillips, great granddaughter Sara Beth Phillips, sisters: Myrtle Strohn, Bettendorf, IA, Ruby Williams, Hamilton, Audie Langley, Winfield, AL, a brother Melvin Phillips, Guin, numerous nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Shortie.
