Funeral services for Edwin D. James, 78, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:00 AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Tuesday in Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, IA. Mr. James died Wednesday. March 16, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Ed was born September 18, 1937, in Iowa City, IA, the son of Clell and Mildred Curnes James. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne, where he was a paratrooper. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 1997, after 38 years of service. Ed was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Survivors include his children, Timothy James (Lori "Harley" Abraham), Carbon Cliff, IL, Lisa (Patrick) Wilson, Tucson, AZ, and John James (Damie Anderson), East Moline; grandchildren, Alan (Liz) Rasso, Amy (Adam) Blair, Candace Wilson, Collin James, Lindy James, Alexander James, Joseph James, Adrianna Brown, and Christopher Gillette; great grandchildren, Liam, Jaxon, Aiden, Ava, Jona, Elijah.
