Efren "Bicycle" Esparza, 90, East Moline, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 1-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1PM. Memorials may be made to ARC of the Quad Cities. Efren was born July 2, 1921 in Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Benjamin and Emeteria Aceves Esparza. He married Ana Alonso on February 18, 1950 in Mexico. Mr. Esparza retired from Frank's Foundry in 1982. He was a handy man who could fix anything, and enjoyed listening to his music. Survivors include his children and spouses; Ana (Ronald) Nuckles, Inman, SC, Laura Buck, Rock Island, Efren (Arland) Esparza Jr., East Moline, Alfredo (Debbie) Esparza, Moline, Jorge (Hope) Esparza, East Moline, Ruben (Marcia) Esparza, Normal, IL, Dora (Sarge) Krol, East Moline, Carlos (Brenda) Esparza, Princeton, IA, Yolanda Wynes, Hampton, Paul Esparza, East Moline and Peter (Cindy) Esparza, East Moline, twenty nine grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a brother Enrique Esparza, Alhambra, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 8 brothers and sisters.
