Eileen M. Leaf, 87, of East Moline, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care Hospice. Eileen was born in Andover IL, on June 19, 1929 to Floyd and Elizabeth (Wilburn) Manning. On June 19, 1970, she married Robert G. Leaf in Chicago, IL. Eileen was currently employed by Black Hawk College Outreach Center as a receptionist which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of East Moline, IL and was an active member of East Moline American Legion 227. Eileen was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, watching Jeopardy and reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show. She enjoyed riding around town with her best friend Alice Garcia looking at the trees in the fall. She also had a passion for cats. Her devotion and love for animals is a tribute to the beauty of her heart and soul. Besides her brother, Everett (Norma) Manning of Rock Island, IL, those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Nancy Dewitt of Hampton, IL, Jeanne Holuba (Tom)of Moline, IL, Lori VanAuwelaer of Rock Island, IL, Amy Alatorre of San Diego, CA, Julie Jones Moeller of Davenport, IA and son Garry Jones (Melanie)of Moline, IL; Grandchildren, Todd VanAuwelaer, Phillip Jones, Elizabeth VanAuwelaer, Trudi Jones, Yolanda Roberts, Alejandro Torres, Carrie Jones and Elizabeth Jones; an abundance of great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings Leo, Cleo, Eugene, and Bernard. Keeping with the wishes of Eileen, no visitation services will be held. Graveside Services will commence at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Anyone wishing to attend must be at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL by 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to East Moline Christ United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
