Elaine M. Walter, 68, of Silvis, IL, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, surrounded by family, at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, after a courageous battle against cancer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 16, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Elaine was born May 7, 1955 in Moline, Illinois, a daughter of Emidio and Eloise Zaragoza Sandoval. She graduated from United Township High School, Class of 1973. She married Thomas J. Walter on September 6, 1979 in Morrison, IL.
Elaine retired from foods service at Illini Hospital after 49 years and more recently from Augustana College.
She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She made many great friends on the softball field, volleyball court, and while working at Illini Hospital. Elaine enjoyed quilting, baking, and taking care of her family. She was the biggest fan at her grandchildren's and nephew's events.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas, of Milan; children, Penny (Caleb) Trier, Davenport, and Michael Walter, East Moline; grandchildren, Grace, Lucy and Margot Trier; mother, Eloise Zaragoza Sandoval, Silvis; siblings, Jeanette (Rod) Curtis, Naperville, IL, and Martin (Ann) Sandoval, East Moline; brother-in-law, Jeff Baker, St. Charles, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Walter; father, Emidio; sister, Karen Baker; and brother, Kelvin Sandoval.
