Elaine M DeJaegher Smith, 82, Hampton, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her home. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home with a rosary recited at 2PM. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan. Elaine DeJaegher was born on January 30, 1932 in Moline, the daughter of Rene and Zulma Whittevrongel DeJaegher. She worked at the former East Moline State Hospital and retired from the East Moline Correctional Center after 44 years in personnel. She married Charles Smith on August 15, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. He died November 20, 1994. Elaine loved her dog, Skeeter. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Kathy Dies, East Moline; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and her wonderful neighbors, Denny and Marion Lorenz.
