Funeral services for Elden Thomas "Al" Green Jr., 71, of Hampton, IL, will be 10:00AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Green died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at his home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the family. Al was born November 28, 1939 in Clinton, IA, the son of Elden Thomas Sr. and Evelyn Lucas Green. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1957. He married Janet Ashbaugh March 18, 1961 in Savanna, IL. He served in the U.S. Air Force from August 29, 1960 until September 2, 1965. He retired from from John Deere Harvester Works in 1995, after 30 years of service as a machinist/tool & die maker. "Grumps" loved classic cars & working on his 1967 Impala Convertible. Survivors include children, Bonnie (Richard) Brunk of Moline, IL, Robert (Valerie) Green of Atkinson, IL; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Jandy, Daniel, Austan, Nicole, Amanda, Adreanna, Ashley, Caiden, and Cody; great granddaughter, Kylie; sister and brother-in-law, Loraine and Norbert Barry of Clinton, IA; a niece and nephew; ex-wife.
