Obituary

Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson, 71, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00PM. Mrs. Jackson died Saturday morning, February 24, 2007 at Davenport Good Samaritan Facility, Davenport, IA. The family asks that memorials may be made in her name to the Davenport Good Samaritan, Trinity Pathway Hospice or St. Anne Catholic Church. Betty was born in St. Anthony's Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 1935 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Thomas "Tom" and Dorothy (Janssen) Stauduhar. She grew up as the little sister of Tom and Chuck Stauduhar. Alleman High School opened their doors for the first time in 1949 and she graduated with the first four-year class in 1953. After graduation Betty attended nursing school at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL. At the end of this training she went to work at St. Anthony's Hospital, Rock Island. Upon returning to Rock Island she met Mr. Theodore "Ted" Jackson. On Monday, March 22, 1954 Betty and Ted where married and they made their home in Champagne, IL, where Mr. Jackson attended the University of Illinois. After graduation they returned to the Quad City area to practice law in East Moline, and raise five children, Roxanne, Curt, Mark, Tim, and Tom. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Jeff Turner of Durant, IA; sons and daughters-in-law, Curt and Teresa Jackson of East Moline, Mark and Nancy Jackson of East Moline, Tim and Lauri Jackson of East Moline; grandchildren, Jason, Aaron, Tiffany, Christopher, and Abbey; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and JoAnn Stauduhar of Webster City, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Tom Jackson and her brother, Tom Stauduhar. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff and management at Davenport Good Samaritan for the compassion, kindness, and the care they gave Betty for the last 10 years.
