Elizabeth "Lisa" Melinda Rangel, 45, Chicago, formerly of East Moline, died April 18, 2013 at Advocate Care Hospice, Chicago. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 5-8PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services are 11 AM Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A memorial fund has been established for her daughter Kira Rangel, C/0 1542 Farwell Avenue 2nd Floor, Chicago, IL 60626. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 26, 2013 at Rogers Park Community Church, 7059 N. Greenview Chicago, IL from 6:30-8:30PM with the Rev. Deborah Paton officiating. Lisa was born on August 27, 1967 in Moline to Arthur I Rangel and martha Olivia Pulido. She graduated from United Township High School, Class of 1985 and received her BS in Law Enforcement Administration at Western Illinois University in Macomb and Masters of Criminal Justice from Boston University. Lisa had worked as a paralegal for the Cook County State's Attorney in Chicago and for the Lawyers' Committee for Better Housing. She had also worked as a telecounselor at Robert Morris University and most recently as a professional recruiter for PeopleScout, Chicago. Elizabeth grew up in East Moline and moved to Chicago in 1989. She was first and foremost a devoted mother and hard worker. She was a member and volunteer at the Rogers Park Community Church near her home. She was an avid walker and enjoyed the outdoors, reading and the movies. Survivors include her daughter Kira Rangel, brother Arthur, her father Arthur I. Rangel, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins locally and abroad and many close and loving long time friends, neighbors and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her mother. The family wishes to thank all the people, groups and institutions who partook in Elizabeth's care.
