Funeral services for Elizabeth "Betty" Shumaker, 69, Coal Valley, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Liturgy service will be recited at 7:30PM. Betty died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at her home. Memorials may be made to St. Maria Goretti to have masses said or to the family. Betty was born November 5, 1935 the 12th of 14 children of Joseph and Julia (VanDenBussche) DePoorter. She graduated from Alleman High School in 1953. She married Richard Liedtke, April 24, 1954. He died October 19, 1967. She married Larry Shumaker, December 24, 1977 in Coal Valley. Betty was active in Cursillo and T.E.C. She enjoyed playing at the local Riverboats and was always ready for a card game. Survivors include her husband Larry, children (and spouses) Teresa "Terry" Liedtke (and boyfriend Larry), East Moline, Rick (Shelly) Liedtke, Coal Valley, Kurt (Kelly) Liedtke, East Moline and Thad Shumaker (girlfriend Beth), Rock Island, grandchildren John, Beth, Emilee and Michael Zabloudil, Miranda, Mariah, Myrissa and Mackinna Liedtke and Blake and Danita Opsal, sisters Margaret Kochuyt, Victor, IA, Rose Glaudel, Rock Island, Julia DeBlaey, Rapids City, and Theresa Wilson, Durant, brothers Joe DePoorter, East Moline and Robert DePoorter, Moline.A special thank you to Dr. Constantinou and his staff and to the nurses at Trinity Terrace Park.
