Funeral services for Elizabeth J. "Betty" VanDeWoestyne, 77, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL and one hour prior to services at the church. Mrs. VanDeWoestyne died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at her home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, where she had been a member. Elizabeth Stern was born December 1, 1928 in Lamberton, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Kosel) Stern. She married Camiel "Mel" VanDeWoestyne January 25, 1947 in Rock Island, IL. He died February 9, 1977. Betty loved to bake and sew. She had been a seamstress most of her life, making all the clothes for her family and others as well. She had worked for Von Maur at Southpark Mall, Moline, IL, where she retired in 2004 after 17 years of service. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Scott Whitney of Port Byron, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Kathy VanDeWoestyne of Bettendorf, IA, Ted and Doris VanDeWoestyne of Carbon Cliff, IL, Gary and Debbie VanDeWoestyne of Orion, IL, Brian and Cindy VanDeWoestyne Silvis, IL; grandchildren, Scott, Sara, Darcey, Julie, Kevin, Kristy, Bret, Lyndsie, James, and Jeff; great grandson, Samuel; sisters, Arlene Van Rycke of Silvis, IL, Ruth Dalugge of FL, Leona Gunnerson of Sleepy Eye, MN; brother, Glen Stern of Moline, IL.
