Ellen Pasley Johnson, 93, East Moline, IL, a resident of Hope Creek Care Center, died Friday, September 19, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, IL. Graveside services will be 3:30PM Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign, IL. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Ellen was born July 15, 1921, in Iola, IL, the daughter of Verne and Augusta (Tackett) Williams. She married Marion S. Pasley June 10, 1941. They farmed in the Champaign area for 41 years. Marion died January 30, 1982. Ellen later married Jack Johnson on February 14, 1987. They lived in Thomasboro and Norris City, IL, until Jack's death on June 10, 2000. Following Jack's passing, she moved to East Moline, IL, to further enjoy her senior years. Ellen was an active member of the Illinois Home Extension since 1949, serving in Champaign, White, and Rock Island counties. She held offices at the local, county, and state levels. She enjoyed quilting by hand, and made many special pieces for friends and family members. In Champaign County, Ellen was a mainstay in local 4-H activities, and managed the food stand at the county fair for 12 years. She enjoyed family, friends, writing poetry, and singing. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Champaign, IL; and attended Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, IL. Survivors include daughter, Dee (Robert) Lambert, Urbana, IL; son, Stan (Beth) Pasley, East Moline, IL; granddaughter, Amber and two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Devin, Clinton, IA. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Marvin; brother, Bernard; and sisters, Dorothy and Genelle.
