Funeral services for Elsie M. Lyphout, 78, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:00 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00PM. Mrs. Lyphout died Monday, January 7, 2008 at her home. A memorial fund has been established. Elsie Verslype was born July 23, 1929 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Leon and Zulma (VanSteenkiste) Verslype. She married Jordan J. Lyphout August 3, 1946 in East Moline, IL. He died September 17, 1991. The Lyphout's owned and operated Lyphout's Hardware, Moline,from 1958-1971. She had worked at the former Metro Bank for over 35 years. She had been a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, lifetime member of the East End Bolders Club, Moline, and the East Moline American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. The most important thing in Elsie's life was her family. She had been a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadette and Steve Williams of Moline, Bernadine and Jerry Brewer of East Moline; sons-and daughters-in-law, James and Rose Lyphout of Granger, IN, Jerry and Judy Lyphout of East Moline; grandchildren, Joseph and Jonathan Lyphout, Scott Williams, Kimberly Brewer-Claeys, Joshua, Kathryn, and Karolyn Lyphout; great grandchildren, Kally Claeys and iams; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Bill Dunlop of Ft. Myers, FL, A. Elizabeth and Gene Poling of Moline, IL, Marge and George Collins of East Moline. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Estella Miller.
