Emily Rose DeCock, 89, of East Moline, died peacefully on January 19, 2019, at her assistance home in Houston, TX.
Born April 13,1929 in Rock Island, IL, she is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Dorothy (Benetiere) Young, brothers Frank and Joel Young, granddaughter Kimberly and her loving husband of 40 years Albert DeCock.
Emily Rose is survived by her son Jim DeCock and his wife Linda, son John DeCock and his wife Karen, daughter Mary Ames and her husband Jim, daughter Diane Murphy and her husband Steve, and son Joe DeCock-Rangel and his husband Salvador. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Christopher, Bradley and Michael DeCock, Tim, Nick and Jeff DeCock, Sam and Natalie Ames, and Seth Murphy. She had 23 great-grandchildren, and is also survived by her loving nieces Stephanie Valdes, Karon Husted and her sister-in-law Dorothy Young.
Emily Rose attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from St Joseph High School in 1947. She was passionate about her time working at Woolworths and Rock Island Lumber Company before marrying Albert in 1954, with whom she worked tireless to maintain their farm and raise their family together.
In her later years, Emily Rose enjoyed volunteering at Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL, traveling around the world, and she loved looking for and processing rebates and coupons.
Her son Joseph and son-in-law Salvador cared for her in the last years of her life. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Emily Rose their greatest and warmest gratitude.
Emily Rose requested an intimate funeral and burial service celebrating her life, which will be held on February 2, 2019, at 10:30 AM St Ann's Catholic Church, 290th Street, Long Grove, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Long Grove.
