Funeral services for Ervan P. "Bud" Sims, 83, Moline, are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 5-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Sims died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Harlingen Medical Center, Harlingen, TX. Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church. He was born December 15, 1921 in Rockport, IL, the son of Clifford and Opal (Capps) Sims. He served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Sims retired as a lathe operator from the Rock Island Arsenal. He later worked as a custodian for the Rock Island School District. Bud loved his Family. He married Doris Lawson Benton, June 16, 1988 in Davenport. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed working on cars. Survivors include his wife Doris, children (and spouses); Dennis Sims, Milan, IL, Mindy (Rusty) VanRaalte, Moline, Clifford (Beth)Sims, Kansas, Polly (Mark) Townsend, Colona, Tom Sims, Moline, Michael (Billie) Benton, Racine, Wis., Joan (Steven) Clark, Reynolds, IL, James (Peggy) Benton, Moline, Kelly Baker, Moline and Anna (Kevin) Flaherty, Hoffman Estates, IL, nineteen grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a brother Roy (Betty) Sims, East Moline. His parents and a sister precede him in death.
