Funeral services for Estherjane Loehrl, 84, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:30-7:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4:00PM. Mrs. Loehrl died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, East Moline. Estherjane Whalen was born May 10, 1924 in Clinton, IA the daughter of Christopher and Mabel (Martin) Whalen. She married Gilbert Loehrl September 13, 1947 in Clinton. He died June 10, 1994. She had been employed locally on Arsenal Island working for Rodman Laboratories and then the Rock Island Arsenal Finance Office, retiring in 1984. She and her husband had spent 10 wonderful winters in Texas. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, watching the Chicago Cubs on TV or any other sports program. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Dann Thomas of Ottumwa, IA, Joan and Ed Johnson of Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Loehrl of Moline; grandchildren (spouse), Renee Thomas, Anne (Tom) Gustafson, Heather Loehrl, Max (Chris) Loehrl, Rachel Johnson, Emily Johnson, and Elizabeth Johnson; great grandchildren, Zachary Loehrl, Lauren Gustafson, Brooke Gustafson, and Alisha Loehrl; sister-in-law, Evelyn Taylor of Clinton, IA; several nieces and nephews.
