Esther L. Velasquez, 73, of Silvis, IL , passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Illini Resotrative Care, Silvis.

In accordance with her wishes no services are planned at this time. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Esther was born February 13, 1950, in Letts, Iowa, a daughter of Clarence, Sr. and Marie Hoyt Newcomb. She married Guadalupe "Lupe" Velasquez in 1980.

Some of her favorite times were those spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework.

Surviving are her husband, Lupe Velasquez, East Moline; children, Miguel Velasquez, Silvis, Jose (Dawn) Velasquez, Cape Coral, FL, and Leticia Velasquez, Silvis; grandchildren, Isabella, Kayden, Maddox, Graysen and Jordan Velasquez, Kamya and A'Nivea Collins, and Roy'el Bassett; great grandson, Zay'Vion Velasquez; siblings, Clarence Jr., Harold, Rodney, Skip and Stella Newcomb, Hazel Rickheim, and Tina Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Shirley Phillips.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Eugene "Gene" Newcomb.
