Graveside services for Eugenia Evelyn Rackis, 77, of Peoria, IL, will be 9:00 AM Monday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, anyone wishing to attend must be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, by 8:30AM. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 PM where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 4:30. Mrs. Rackis died May 8, 2007 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD. Memorials may be made to Parkinson Research, Diabetes Foundation or Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Evelyn Mihalopoulos was born June 7, 1929 in East Moline, IL, the daughter of Anast and Georgia Mihalopoulos. She married Joseph J. Rackis. He died January 15, 2004. Evelyn was a graduate of St. Anthony's School of Nursing. She had worked as a RN at Proctor Hospital & Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She had been a member of the Red Hat Ladies of Heartlands Severna Park and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Ladies Auxiliary, where she had been president. She loved to read. Survivors include: daughter, Rebecca Rackis, of MD; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Sandy Rackis of IA; grandson, Colin Rackis. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 50 years, daughter, Kathryn Rackis, and brother, Arthur "Moose" Mihalopoulos. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com.
