Eva Margaret Schmid, 98, of Silvis, passed away from this life in the afternoon of Monday, August 27, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Services will be 10:00AM Friday, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline,IL with visitation 2-4pm and 6-7 PM, on Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home LTD, East Moline. A rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm. Burial is at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, IL. Eva was born November 3, 1913, in Grafton, ND to Conrad and Margaret Narlock Tanke. She had wanderlust, moving to Minneapolis and later to Milwaukee, Wis., where she met her husband Alois "Louie" Schmid. They married Aril 24, 1938, moving to Oshkosh, Wis., where they raised two children Robert Louis and Margaret "Peggy" Eva. Her favorite things were cooking for lots of company and sewing of all kinds. In the early years she sewed the entire family's clothing. She later sewed for others, including making vestments for local clergy. After retiring from work at the County Courthouse in 1980, she and Louie moved to Phoenix to be near her son, who then passed away unexpectedly in 1981. Louie passed away in 1987 so in 1991 Eva came to Moline to live with her daughter and best friend, Peggy. They were together until her death. Eva is survived by her loving daughter Peggy and son-in-law Oscar Carlson, Silvis, IL, four grandchildren William, Julia, Elijah and Matt, and two great-grandchildren, all in AZ, five step grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Mary Gunderson, Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, grandson Michael, her parents, her sister and two brothers.
