Evelyn R. Tarbay, 74, Moline, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a prayer service will be held at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Disabled American Veterans. Evelyn Knisel was born on May 19, 1938 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of Pius and Dorothy (Duman) Knisel. She married Thomas Tarbay on October 1, 1955 in Johnstown. Evelyn worked as a manager for Whitey's Ice Cream, retiring after 18 years with the company. In early years, Mrs. Tarbay was active in her children's school and coached for their teams. She enjoyed flower gardening. Survivors include her husband Tom, children and spouses, Chris and Frank Kiss, Palm Bay, FL, Dodie and Mike Hollinger, East Moline and Penny and Joe Cannella, Springfield, IL, grandchildren, Kevin and Mike Jones, Sarah Napier, Jaymeson, Ed and Ivy Tarbay, and Brandi Bedinger, eight great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Nina Tarbay, Roscoe, IL, her sister Jan Morrison, of Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Ray, parents, sisters Emma Jean Dorsey and Betty Stapelton and brother Ray Knisel.
