A private family service will be held at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at one o'clock in the afternoon. Evie entered the world on January 19, 1931, the daughter of Oscar and Tillie Carlson. Born during a blizzard in Lindsborg, Kansas, Evie began life being kept warm in a dresser drawer placed near their wood stove. The family moved to Moline when she was a young child, and is where she graduated from Moline High School in 1949. Evie married the love of her life, Ronald Kizer on March 18, 1951 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Ron passed away in 1957. She was of the Lutheran Faith, last attending Holy Cross Lutheran Church, in Moline. Evie retired in 1995 from Bituminous Insurance Company after 30 years of service in the accounting department. In her younger days, Evie was an avid bowler and was proud to have scored a 300 game. She also enjoyed listening to country music, preparing Swedish dishes and gardening. She loved being a grandmother most of all. Evelynne is survived by one son, David (Sybil) Kizer, one granddaughter, Abby, and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, parents, and sister, Millye Harper. The family would like to thank the staffs of Dr. Constantinou and Dr. Davies for their care and assistance. An especially heartfelt thank you is extended to all the visiting nurses and Hospice Care staff for their kindness, and to Sylvia Wright, who was a true blessing to us all as Evie's personal end of life care giver.
