Everett H. Johnson, 96, East Moline, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is from 3PM until service time. Graveside services will be 3PM Wednesday at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The youngest of 7 children, Everett was born on March 10, 1916 in Rushville, IL to John and Margaret Bankus Johnson. He served in the US Army during WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant. He married Frances Horak in February of 1947. She died in 1970. He married Mary Mattan in January of 1971. She died August 6, 1993. Everett had worked for the former Minneapolis Moline and later retired as a welder in 1981 after 23 years with John Deere Plow Planter, Moline. Mr. Johnson enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and playing Rolle Bolle. He was a member of the Moline Viking Club, Friends Circle Club, East End Boulder's Club and Hand in Hand, East Moline. Survivors include sons, Robert (Donna) Mattan, Dubuque, and Dave (Buanita) Mattan, Erie, IL, son-in-law Dave Oliver, East Moline, daughter-in-law Cindy Mattan, Fountain Hills, AZ, grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin, Mike, Zack, Jamie, Brad, Chad and Trisha, and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandi Oliver and son, Bill Mattan. The family would like to thank the staff of Trinity 4th Floor for the first class care.
