Obituary

Funeral services for Frances H. Hardi, 94, resident of Rosewood Care Center, Moline, are 10 AM Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Frances died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, where she was a member. Frances Whalen was born December 31, 1914 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Frerichs) Whalen. She graduated from Davenport High School, Class of 1933. During the 1930's she and her sisters Marjorie and Irene were professional singers on WHBF and WOC radio as part of the Whalen Sisters /Bell Trio. She married Joseph F. Hardi on February 17, 1949 in Davenport. He died March 24, 1999. Frances had worked as an Office Manager for Sears, Rock Island. Singing, playing the piano, painting, and embroidery were hobbies enjoyed throughout her years. She enjoyed playing cards, watching basketball, and dining out and was well known for her "gift of gab". Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Terry and Bob Ratcliff, Davenport, Son and daughter-in-law Tim and Paula Hardi, Moline, grandchildren and spouses; Amy (Danilo) Ramos, Apache Junction, AZ, Grace (Seth) Kouba, Greenwood, MO, Clare (Scott) Manecke, Moline, Eric (Jessica) Stimson, Waunakee, WI and Christopher (Angela) Hardi, Bloomington, six great grandchildren and a sister Marjorie Adrian, Manchester, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers and a sister.
