Frances M. Kandis, 87, East Moline, fell asleep onThursday, May 2, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday May 8, 2013 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion service will be held at 6:30PM. Memorials may be made to Assumption Church, where she was a member. Frances was born January 6, 1926 in Huron, SD, the only child of William D. and Marie (Stalwick) Maley. She graduated from Huron High School and St. John's School of Nursing. She married William Kandis on April 26, 1955 at Assumption. Bill passed away on July 5, 1990. Mrs. Kandis was a RN and had worked at St. Anthony's Hospital, Rock Island, Moline Public Hospital and retired as the Head Nurse of Recovery at Illini Hospital, Silvis. She had taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir at her church. She had been a member of the East Moline Women's Club and enjoyed traveling. Frances loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons (spouses) Deno (Dr. Ann) Kandis, East Moline and Michael (Terri) Kandis, Geneseo, grandchildren, Mary Kandis, Bill Kandis, both of East Moline, Amber (Jeff) Mannon, Peoria, Joie (Trent) Nuxoll, Champaign, IL and Nathan (Jen) Kandis, Sun Prairie, WI and great-grandchildren Kara Mannon, Chase Mannon and Owen Nuxoll.
