Frances Cecilia Foust, 97, of East Moline, IL, passed away Monday April 29, 2024, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. A Rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
Cecilia was born October 17, 1926, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Clarence (Kelly) Mernin and Kathryn Sennett Mernin. She attended St. Mary School in Storm Lake, and Providence Consolidated School, Sulphur Springs, IA, graduating in 1944.
On June 4, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Leo Foust, at the Midland Army Air Base, Midland, TX. They moved to Ames, IA, while Leo attended I.S.U. and then to Sterling where they lived for 19 years.
Cecilia was a member of St. Mary Church in Sterling and a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
She was a homemaker, always lending a helping hand to friends and family. She loved attending all her children and grandchildren's performances and was known for sending greeting cards on special occasions.
Those left to mourn are her sons, Larry (Jackie) Foust, Dixon, IL, Gary (Jane) Foust, East Moline, IL, Mike (Peggy) Foust, Albuquerque, NM, and Leo Foust, Round Rock, TX; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Foust, Dixon, IL; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Cecila was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; son, Terry Foust; parents; and four brothers.
