Frances A. Ranker, 87, beloved mother and trusted friend died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Elgin, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hope Creek Activity Fund or to St. Anne Catholic Church. Frances was born August 26, 1923 in Joliet, IL, the daughter of John and Faye Auten Himes. She married Lowell Kingsbury in January of 1942 in Springfield, IL. He died January 6, 1969. She later married Delmar Ranker May 12, 1973 in Rock Island, IL. He died in May of 1986. She had been a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan, enjoyed needle point, reading, and was always up to date on current events. Frances was a very caring and loving person, her door at Hope Creek was always open and her candy dish was always full. Survivors include her daughters, Judi (Ken) Mason of Phoenix, AZ, Laurel (Gerald) Brown-Hourigan of Moline, IL, Helen "Sue" Boyd of Davenport, IA, Sarah "Sally" Groene of East Moline, Deborah (Tim) Doman-Rash of Denver, CO; son, Lowell "Sonny" (Linda) Kingsbury of Coal City, IL; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; brother, Paul Himes of Gardner, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter, Marianne Schaffer; grandsons, Dan and Tim, sisters, Winifred, Helen, Jeanne, and Patricia, brother, Robert, and infant brother, Jackie.
