Funeral services for Francis A. Kastelic, 87, of Moline, IL, formerly of Weslaco, Texas, will be 10:00 AM Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, where the American Legion Post 246 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Kastelic died Monday, April 2, 2007 at the home of his daughter. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Kastelic was born March 19, 1920 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of John and Anna (Selan) Kastelic. He was a graduate of Cherokee High School in Cherokee, KS and a graduate of the Moline Institute of Commerce. He married Laverne DeBel in 1946. He later married Alice Castelli in 1985. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was proud that he participated in the invasions at Normandy, North Africa, and Sicily. He retired as a Cost Accountant from John Deere Harvester Works in 1982 after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Francine and Steve Hamm of Moline, Karen and Charlie Schroeder of Rogers, AR, Amy and Matt Dean of Dallas, TX, Judy and Ed Hodgerson of Coal Valley, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Marlene Kastelic of Coal Valley; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; step daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Ron Browning of Shawnee, KS, Carol and Ahmed Saloui of Charolette, NC; stepson and daughter-in-law John David and Jan Castelli of Bartlesville, OK.
