Francis "Tony" Robers, 86, Silvis, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 1-4 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 12:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy or St. Anne Church. Tony was born on August 20, 1930 in Salem Wisconsin, the son of Leonard and Frances (Kresken) Robers. He ran the family farm until he was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Korean Conflict. After the war, he married Dodie Futterer on June 25, 1955 in Chicago. He graduated from University of Wisconsin with a degree in Agricultural Journalism. He then went to work for Deere & Co., as a copy Editor, retiring in 1984. Tony enjoyed fishing, reading and working crosswords. He loved his family and traveling to the cabin in New Mexico, that he had helped to build. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dodie, sons; Jeff Robers, San Diego, Jerry (Marsha) Robers, Cave Creek, AZ, Jay (Teri) Robers, Mesa, AZ, John Robers (Cassie Clark), Moline and Jamie Robers (Eliza Montoya), San Diego, CA, six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Lorraine VanLiere, Burlington, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gene Robers and Lillian VanLiere.
