Funeral services for Francis O. "Hank" Schilling, 73, Rock Island are 1PM Friday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. Schilling died Monday, August 22, 2005 at his home. A memorial fund has been established. Hank was born December 27, 1931 in Columbus, NE, the son of Aloysius and Rosemary (Mertz) Schilling. He married Patricia Kilgore with whom they had five children. In early years he worked as a bartender at several area bars including Mirando's and Hunter's Club. Later he owned and operated the former Red Carpet Club in Moline and the restaurant at the Fort Armstrong Hotel in Rock Island. Hank enjoyed playing Ping-Pong and cribbage; he loved to dance and had a great sense of humor. He always was available to his children to help them with their businesses. He authored the Pro-AM Barbook. Survivors include: children and spouses; Richard "Rick" and Kelly Schilling, Appleton, WI, Michael "Mic" Schilling, Fresno, CA, Dawn and Steven Conway, Rock Island, Robert and Christie Schilling, Colona, William and Nancy Schilling, Minocqua, WI; 17 grandchildren; sister, Rose Gilbert, Fort Myers, FL; brother, Richard Schilling, Cedar Falls, IA; his fiancée, Joy Reel, and a special caregiver Nucu McDowell.
