Obituary

Frank Charles Ross, 96, of East Moline, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his entire family. There will not be formal services as Frank requested his body be donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Frank was born 10/18/29 in East Moline, Illinois to Fred V. Ross and Agnes Havir. Frank graduated from United Township High School and married Patricia Ross. They were married 72 years. After graduating Frank served two years in Korea and then attended the American Academy of Art Chicago, Illinois. Frank then worked for John Deere Harvester. He then journeyed as a union electrician and worked for Art-O-Lite Electric retiring in 1990.

Frank served 18 years on the Silvis school board. He was also an accomplished local artist known for painting with Mississippi mud. He did programs throughout the Quad Cities in schools, churches, and the corp of engineers. He was an avid ecologist and in 1981 designed and built a solar heated underground home. Frank loved the outdoors spending time fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, gardening, and taking his grandchildren for nature walks.

Frank was preceded in death by his son Mark Ross and his brother Fred J. Ross. He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Vicki Hughes, sons Blake Ross and Jay (Kristi) Ross, grandchildren Angie Ross, Taylor Ross, Maddie (Matt) Geyer, Dustin Ross, Ross Hughes, Chase Ross, great grandchild Maverick Frank Geyer, niece Sandy (Mark) Rice; nephew Todd (Ann) Ross; and sister-in-law, Helen Ross.

Memorials can be made to Living Lands and Waters or Quad City Botanical Center.
