Obituary

Memorial services for Frank J. Sandoval, 90, of Moline, IL, will be 10 AM Monday, May 20, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at noon. Mr. Sandoval passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 UnityPoint Health, Rock Island, IL.

Frank was born January 29, 1934, in Silvis, IL, the son of Encarnacion "Jack" and Ladislada Rangel Sandoval.

He married Theresa (Beily) Buzea September 17, 1994. Frank was the owner of Sandoval's Barber Shop, a well-known business in Moline's west-end. He cut and styled hair for over half a century. Frank was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and a Parachute Badge as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. Frank was well known for his hard work and generosity in helping many neighbors and friends. One of his passions was collecting "doodads" & he was talented at shooting pool and playing his harmonica. He also was a good cook specializing in making the "best" frijoles in the QC. He was a Cardinals, Bears & Bulls, and local soccer fan. He enjoyed watching wrestling on TV several nights per week. Most of all, he loved Theresa and spending time with his children, grandchildren, loving siblings and family.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; children, Lydia (William) Matya, Marc (Tisha) Sandoval, and Sandra Sandoval (Robert) Klouser; step children, Tammy (Donnie) Palmer, Michael (Tracy) Buzea, and Kenneth (Lisa) Buzea; grandchildren, Natosha Ramirez, Alex Sandoval, Raquel Cross, Deanna Sandoval, Terra Peterson, Jamie Schiff, Jordan Matya, Kayla Matya, Bobbie Matya, Lucy Buzea, Delila Palmer, Chase Palmer, Braeden Palmer, Alexis, Makayla and Riley Buzea; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Beatrice Puentes, Mary Lopez, and Phil (Manuela) Bonilla; sister-in-law Laura (Samuel) Sandoval, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cheri (Carlos) Garza; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Victoria (Alfonse) Lopez, Eloise (Manuel) Montez, Samuel Sandoval, Edmund "Pep" (Pauline) Sandoval, and Dorothy Rangel; and brothers-in-law, Florencio Puentes, and Gilbert Lopez.
