Obituary

Funeral services for Frank Spurgetis, 89, of East Moline, IL, will be 10 am Friday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL, with Military Honors provided by the Moline American Legion. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Mr. Spurgetis passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Frank was born November 29, 1932, in East Moline, the son of George and Katherine "Katina" (Birles) Spurgetis. He served in the Korean Conflict for four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He married Terry Lawrence in August of 1960. They had daughters, Dena, Shelley and Nicole. He later married Roxanne Smith August 7, 1982, in Bettendorf IA. They later married in the Greek Orthodox Church. They had sons, Phillip and Alex. Frank worked at the Rock Island Arsenal in Supply Procurement and Operations Center, retiring in 1993, after 42 years of service.

Frank's passion was his family. He enjoyed the many holidays and special occasions with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Frank was an Avid Chicago Bears and Bulls fan. He enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends. He also enjoyed having breakfast with his friends, Pete Lingris, Tony Stopolous, and Spiro Pappaspiros. His only regret was not making a trip to Greece.

Surviving is his wonderful wife of 39 years, Roxanne, East Moline; daughters, Dena (Christian) Nicholas, Moline, Shelley Spurgetis, East Moline, Nicole (Pete) Fedele, East Moline; sons, Phillip (Carrie) Spurgetis, Moline, and Alex (Amy) Spurgetis, Moline; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and brother, Socrates Spurgetis, East Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Jennie Karman, Anne Allen, Gus Spurgetis and Tom Spurgetis.

He is joining his father, mother, siblings and his beloved dog, Kaylie in heaven.
