Fred Roby, 65, Milan, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Visitation is 2-5PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Inurnment will be 10 AM Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Anyone wishing to attend should meet at funeral home by 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Fred was born on August 23, 1947 in Moline, the son of Wilbur and Louise (Albright) Roby. He married Linda Callen on July 16, 1989 in Rock Island. He served in the US Air Force. Mr. Roby retired from Oscar Mayer, Davenport. He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Survivors include his wife, children (spouses) Vicki Blair, Coal Valley, Donna Winchester, Moline, Lori (Dusty) Mabie, Coal Valley, Candy (Ray) Johnson, Rock Island and Valerie (Shawn) Davidson, Cordova, his mother Louise, East Moline. several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and brothers Don (Jan) Roby, Arizona and Bill (Lora) Roby, Moline. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Judy Schuldt, and a great niece. The family would like to express their gratitude to Genesis Hospice and to Ed, Danny and Roger for their care.
