Funeral services for Garner Sheley, 92, Silvis, are 10AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 2-4PM Sunday at the funeral home. Garner died Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Memorials may be made to Moline American Legion Post 246 Honor Guard. Garner was born July 30, 1915 on a farm near Burr Oak, Iowa. After graduating from high school in 1934, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he served for seven years as a project assistant. In 1942, he joined the 7th Air Force for 4 years. He was discharged as a member of the Signal Corps. He worked at Burtmen Electric and Quad Cities Specialty, retiring in 1982. He married Geraldine McCall, December 26, 1957 in Rock Island, IL. She died May 5, 2001. Survivors include his two sons, Ron of Henderson, Nevada and Dennis of Como, TX, two daughters-in-law Ron's wife Rusti and Dennis' wife Debbie, 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
