Gary L. Haytcher, 74, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. A visitation will be held from 1PM until 2PM Thursday August 19, at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Graveside services will follow at 2:30PM At Rock Island National Cemetery where the VVA Post 299 will conduct military honors.

Gary was born on November 4, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the son of Wayne and Mae (Gustafson) Haytcher. He married Betty (Hawkins) Bentley on September 30, 1978 in Moline. Gary served as an MP in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Army, Gary returned to the University of Illinois to receive his law degree. He was a partner in the law firm Glockhoff and Haytcher for over 25 years in East Moline. Gary was involved in the community, he served as attorney and sat on the Board of Directors for Community Savings Loan and sat on the board at and the Viola Bank Holding Company. Mr. Haytcher was instrumental in the development of Megan Park Sub-division and Avonlea Cottage. Gary always felt it a privilege to serve people as their attorney.

Survivors include his wife Betty, daughter Megan Haytcher, FL, step-children; Joshua (Jenna) Bentley, East Moline, Scott Bentley, East Moline, Sheri (Jack) Peacock, Bettendorf and Alycia (Wlliam) Cooley, Cave Creek, AZ, grandchildren, Cecil, Edgar, Jack, Merry, Katee, Brenna, Taylor and Rory, a brother, Allan (Sarah) Haytcher, nephew, Stephen (Tina) Haytcher and a niece Alexa Masters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott Earl Haytcher, brother Karl Haytcher and a nephew, Eric Haytcher.
