Funeral services for Gary L. Overmire, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 11 AM Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mr. Overmire passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at his home.

Gary was born July 25, 1936, in Correctionville, IA, the son of Merle C. and Gladys A. (Platz) Overmire. He married Sandra L. Rhodes October 24, 1959, in Moline, IL. Gary retired from Sexton Ford, Moline, in 1998, after 33 years of service.

Gary was a devoted family man and previously very active in church. He supported his boys in all their activities and sporting events, which he rarely missed. He had the cleanest cars and the best lawn in the neighborhood. His son's apply the same great pride in their life. Gary won several awards from his profession which allowed him to travel to several destinations with his family. He loved camping with his family, enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards (Euchre) which he rarely lost. Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Sandra Overmire; sons, Gary (Julie) Overmire, Largo, FL, and Brian Overmire, Stokesdale, NC; grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Snelling, Lara (Kevin) Govro, Jessica Overmire (fiance, Brandon Popkin), Seth (Courtney) Overmire, and Mason (Amber) Overmire; great-grandchildren, Madison, Nehemiah, Bryson, Malachi, Easton, Brielle, Abigail, Jovy, Jordy, and Oakley; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Allen Overmire; and siblings, Neil Overmire, Don Overmire, Jack Overmire, Marley Overmire, and Sheryll Lucas.
