Memorial services for Gene H. Schroeder, 78, of Hampton, IL, will be 5:00 pm Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 pm prior to services. Mr. Schroeder died Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at his home. Gene was born May 6, 1938, in Davenport, IA, the son of Harold and Bernice Schreck Schroeder. He served in the US Navy. He married Kathy Marineau April 19, 1975, in East Moline. Gene was a golf pro at Golfmohr Golf Course , Hampton, and the former Mill Creek (Pinnacle), Golf Course, Milan, IL . He had also worked as a food broker, working for Calkins & Co, Davenport, and Premier Pesses Marketing, Davenport. Gene was a sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and bowling. He lived to golf. Over his long love affair with golf, Gene had 10 holes in one, which was much more impressive than his single 300 game bowling. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Schroeder, Hampton; sons, Scott Schroeder, Las Vegas, NV, and Justin (Leesa) Schroeder, East Moline; grandsons, Daniel Schroeder and Ryne Schroeder; sister, Sue Tobin, Long Grove, IA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Hampton PTA (Hampton School, Hampton, IL).
