Obituary

Funeral services for Genevieve "Karen" Stufflebean, 73, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Chapel Grove Cemetery, Milan, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline. Karen passed away peacefully Friday, December 20, 2013 at home surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, East Moline, First Day Fund, Inc., or a local food pantry. Karen was born July 1, 1940 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Richard and Genevieve Surr Hynes. She married Wayne Stoner October 18, 1958. Karen later married her soul mate and the love of her life, Douglas Stufflebean July 17, 1992 in East Moline. She retired from the Colona Postal Office in 1992. She had also owned and operated the Blooming Barn, Atlanta, IL, with her daughter, Chris. Karen's life revolved around her family and her church family, whom she cherished. She was very active at her church, and enjoyed working with the First Day Fund. She loved to travel with her husband. They had traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada. Survivors include her husband, Doug Stufflebean, East Moline; daughters, Cari (Larry) Stewart, Taylor Ridge, IL, and Chris (Rick) Strong, Atlanta, IL; son, Sean (Kim) Stoner, Cordova, IL; grandchildren, Allison (Keith) Avin, Chad (Jill) Stewart, Lori (Ron) Wright, Dave (Cori) Strong, Steve Strong, Addison Winger, Lance Winger, great grandchildren, Jacob, Hillary, Sydney, Taylor, Kennedy, Logan, Peyton, Layne, Sophie, Norah, Bella, Owynn, and Elsa; great great granddaughter, Railynn; sister, Mary (Gary) Foster, Milan, IL; brothers, Pat Hynes (Wanda White), Moline, IL, John (Judy) Hynes, Coal Valley, IL, David (Sharon) Hynes, New Port Richey, FL, and Bob Hynes, New Port Richey; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Rev. Becky Sherwood, East Moline, and Jean Glenn, Colona, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Dena Lynn Stoner, and grandson, Eric Stewart. The family would like to thank Dr. Stewart Garneau and his staff for their wonderful care of their granny.
