Funeral services for George Ackerland, 88, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Ackerland died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. George was born November 24, 1917 in Walsh County, ND, The son John and Bertha (Lunde) Ackerland. He married Edith Mastre, November 5, 1936 in Grafton, ND. He had worked as self-employed carpenter. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include: his wife of 69 years, Edith Ackerland of Moline, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Myrna State of Sarasota, FL, Jana and Jorge Diaz of Moline, IL, Julie and Maynard Madore of Creston, IA; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Lynn Ackerland of East Moline, IL, Donald and Cheryl Ackerland of East Moline, IL; 38 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Norma Stenorodden of Fargo, ND, Blanche and Clem Sherek of Fargo, ND; brother, Leonard Ackerland of Boise, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Harlan, Gary, Randy, John and David; sisters, Geneva, Cora and Irene; brothers, Edward, Willie and Melvin.
