Funeral services for George Dopson, 78, East Moline, are 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, with Pastor Kent Umbarger will officiate. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Dopson died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church. George was born April 16, 1928, in Cashton, WI, the son of Oliver and Anna (Parr) Dopson. He grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Illinois in 1947. He married Darlene Anderson, March 20, 1948 in East Moline. George retired as a Spray Painter from the former American Air Filter. He was a dedicated and active member of St. John's Church. He enjoyed travel and fishing, but his greatest joy was time spent with his grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Survivors include his wife of 58years, Darlene, daughters Diana Carroll, and Nancy Odvarko, both of Bettendorf, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Carole Dopson, Geneseo, seven grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a brother Al Dopson, Bradenton, FL.
