George E "Butch" Miller, 71, Colona, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Visitation is 1-3PM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. George was born on December 19, 1942 in Moline, the son of Richard and Muriel (Hoskins) Miller. He graduated from UTHS, class of 1960. He served active duty in the US Navy. During his service he was stationed on the Carrier Bonhomme Richard , during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He had worked at the former Rick's Lawn and Garden, East Moline and most recently retired from Lift Systems, East Moline. He married Janet Stock in 1981. She preceded him in death in 2010. Butch enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his garage and was a air cooled engine specialist. He was a member of the Studebaker club. Survivors include his children, Ronald Miller, Mineral, VA, Randy Stock, Lynn Center, IL, and Marshall "Mike" Miller, Coal Valley, three grandchildren, a great granddaughter and siblings, Gary Miller, East Moline, Don Miller Sr., Hampton, Jane White, Davenport and Carol Sue Guthrie, Silvis, and a special friend, Doris Brasmer.
