George W. Schmitt, 81, East Moline, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at his home. Private services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. George was born November 5, 1928 in Chehalis, WA. He retired after 31 years of driving a truck in the states of Washington and Oregon. He moved to East Moline in 1992. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. George was a High School Graduate and enjoyed camping and fishing. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., is assisting the family. George had no wife, but he had his special friend Sally , daughter Bonnie Lynn and son William Edward, and 3 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother and half brother.
