Funeral services for George Spilman, 88, formerly of East Moline, will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the church. George was born June 30, 1923 in Galesburg, IL. He and his wife Betty Dillon Spilman had 3 children. Betty preceded him in death. He later married Geraldine Rockwell and they resided in Lauderhill, FL. George served in the US Army during WWII as a medical tech serving in the Asiatic Theater. Throughout his life, he remained active in Veteran's Affairs and belonged to many military organizations. George had worked at the former East Moline State hospital and retired after 40 years, from the State of Illinois Mental Health Department. He is survived by his wife Geri; daughters, Ann Whitworth, Dunlap, IL, Margaret Gustafson, Galesburg, IL; a son, Rev. Robert Spilman, Spring Valley, IL; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
