Obituary

Funeral services for George E. Timper of Moline, IL, formerly of Silvis, IL will be 10:00AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Timper died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his home at Amber Ridge. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus 1640 N. Henderson Street Galesburg, IL 61401. George was born February 4, 1925 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Gerhard and Elnora (Hefly) Timper. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Dorothy Skailand July 27, 1946 in Davenport, IA. He later married Florence (Jack) Comsek October 8, 1994 in Moline. She died April, 25, 2001. George was a talented machinist. He had worked in the Aerospace Industry on the west coast and retired from Bowe Machine, Bettendorf, IA in 1997. While working in the Aerospace Industry he had made parts for the Apollo 11 space craft. He had been very proud of his "generation" and his military service. He had been a member of the China, Burma, and India Veterans Association. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Georgina and Robert Peterson of Clinton, IA, Theresa Schofield of Davenport; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Catherine Timper of Bettendorf, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wives, his daughter, Mary Beth Timper and his sister Maxine Page. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
