George A Zink, 70, Silvis, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Graveside services are 11 AM Wednesday at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, with military honors. At George's request there will be no visitation. A memorial fund is being established at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union for a scholarship fund for his great grandchildren. George was born September 23, 1939 in Canton, IL, the son of Floyd Lewis "Mike" and Elsie Margaret Zink. He married Marilu Long of Farmington, IL on February 13, 1959 in Canton. He was employed by Case-IH, East Moline, retiring after 31 years of service. He also ran a collectible Shop on 18th Avenue, Moline for 4 years. He served in the US Army and the US Air Force. Survivors include his wife Marilu, son Mike Zink of Oklahoma, a daughter and son-in-law Mikki and Steve Edmonds, Rock Island, a sister Marjorie Zink of Canton, IL, grandchildren Brittany, Derek and Brooke Zink and great-grandchildren; Emery and Oliver McCutcheon and Silas Zink. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers Claude "Jim" Zink and Larry Dean Zink, sister Shirley Grubb and a grandson Nikolas Edmonds.
