Gerald L. "Jerry" David, 70, East Moline, died Monday, October 6, 2008 at his home. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private inurnment is in Rock Island National Cemetery. At Jerry's request his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Gerald was born September 27, 1938 in Rock Island, the son of Sonny and Frances Marye (Beck) David. He married Patricia Newton on November 13, 1966 in Viola, IL. He served in the US Air Force. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum, Bettendorf. He was a member of the Mississippi Valley Country and Western Music Association, the Rock Island Moose Club, and Sunset Resort, Joslin. He enjoyed fishing and working on bicycles and small engines. Survivors include his wife Patricia, sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Teresa David, East Moline, and Curtis and Renee David of East Moline, six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a sister Patricia (Don) Short, Andalusia, and brothers Dick (Barb) David, Aledo, Neil (Deb) David, Joslin, and Roger David, Davenport, and a sister-in-law Sandy David of Rock Island. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robin.
